About Barloc

I first saw Barloc in the street in Sanur and he let me pat his nose. A lovely local woman had just bought him a bag of chicken and rice so he was busy devouring that. He was skin and bone but wearing a collar so at some point he belonged to someone.

My house is just around the corner so I went home to get more food and a lead so I could bring him home but he was gone by the time I got back. I went back again that night as there was a big storm but again I couldn’t find him – I’m guessing he was hiding from the storm.

I went back the next morning and there he was, curled up but so dirty and small, he looked like a bag of rubbish – I nearly missed him! He ate a heap of biscuits in no time so I rang my friends with the local private shelter to see if they could help. Sadly while I was sitting next to him, some man came past on a motorbike and kicked his leg out at Barloc (and possibly me) and Barloc panicked.

He took off into traffic and ran down the road and I followed him. Because the traffic was so crazy and gangs everywhere, I lost sight of him so I sent the location I last saw him and the description of where he had been sleeping, to my shelter friends.

Thankfully an hour later, they found him! He was scared and nervous at first when he got to the shelter, so many dogs and smells and new things. So he stayed in his own area just resting and eating and watching the other rescue dogs play.

By the next day, he was out in the garden with the other dogs, still very cautious but was ok to let me sit next to him and he showed me how much he liked food!

Now he is putting on weight and his fur, although still dropping out in some patches, is starting to grow back healthier. Barloc was painfully thin when he was found but was wearing a collar and we’ve since found out has also been sterilised. At some point he was someone’s dog – we’ll never know why he was on the streets and in such bad condition but the way his bones were sticking out, shows he had been without enough good food for a long time.

We named him Barloc, because it means strong warrior filled with love and hope.

Signing up to support Barloc under our virtual adoption program is just like adopting your own dog, without the day to day work involved. Your contribution covers the cost of his care and energetically lets him know that someone out there is sending some love his way! You will receive updates and be able to form a bond with Barloc as he recovers. And who knows, maybe one day you will make it to Bali for some cuddle time. As Barloc was rescued in Sanur he is in recovery with a local rescue group. BARC are covering all costs associated with his care.

As Barloc is a new rescue his donation form is open to one time offerings. The funds raised through these one off donations support during his initial recovery as he is needing additional care; medicated washes, vet checks, initial vaccinations, etc. Once his condition improves the one off donations will be closed as our true desire here is to match Barloc with a guardian angel who will virtually adopt him until a suitable home can be found.
